GuardVision™ Photo Detector
The GuardVision™ Photo Detector is an indoor, motion-activated (PIR) photo-capture camera detector with night vision that forms part of your professionally monitored Verisure alarm system.
If someone moves through a protected room while your alarm is set, whether that’s mid-afternoon or 3am, it takes a burst of photos and sends them to our Alarm Receiving Centre. That way, a trained operator can see what set it off before deciding how to respond.
Our security experts choose the ideal spot in your home when they install, picking the area that gives you the best coverage and the most peace of mind.
How does GuardVision™ Work
Inside the detector, a passive infrared motion sensor watches for the shift in heat a moving body gives off.
If it detects movement while your alarm is enabled, the built-in camera captures a short sequence of photos, with infrared facilitating night vision so it can do so clearly even in a dark room. Those images go to our Alarm Receiving Centre, where an operator checks them against the alert. If they can see an intrusion in progress, they can act on your behalf.
You can also request new images through the My Verisure app, which can be useful if you’re away and want to check in on your property.
Our guide to motion sensor alarms explains how this kind of detection fits into a wider system. Take a look at our burglar alarm guide for more information on the full range.
How GuardVision Works for Your Privacy, Not Against It
Customers often ask whether GuardVision is watching them, and that's a fair question about anything with a lens in your living room.

Is the GuardVision Photo Detector a Camera?
Yes. There is a built-in camera that captures still photographs in short bursts, paired with a motion sensor. It only takes images when it's triggered or when you ask for them.
Is GuardVision Always Recording?
No, it doesn't film around the clock. It takes photos when it detects movement while your alarm is set, or when you request an image through the My Verisure app.
The images are sent securely to our monitoring centre and stored there, and we release them at your request. GuardVision has been designed for motion-based image capture, not intrusive surveillance.
How Do I Request Images From GuardVision?
Open the My Verisure app and request an image from the detector, and you'll get a current photo of the room it covers.
Does GuardVision Work in the Dark?
Yes. Infrared gives the camera night vision, so it can capture clear images even in a room with the lights off.
Award-Winning Design
GuardVision won a Red Dot Design Award in 2023, one of the most respected international design awards. The jury praised its clean, minimal look, and that matters in your home too - a detector that blends into your decor is far less likely to be noticed by a burglar.
Building on this success, our ZeroVision and GuardVision Indoor products have also been awarded two 2026 Red Dot Design Awards.

FAQs
Your monthly fee depends on your home and the system it needs, including how many detectors and cameras it takes to cover the property. One of our security experts will assess your home and give you a no-obligation quote.
Our Alarm Receiving Centre monitors your alarm 24/7. When an operator confirms an intrusion, they can act on your behalf, using GuardVision photos if you have the detector. Because each alert is checked first, any call comes with confirmation of what’s happening.
That depends on what you want from your security. If you’d like trained professionals watching over your home day and night, acting on any verified alerts while you’re at work, away from home, or on holiday, a professionally monitored system gives you that. Your GuardVision also includes lifetime maintenance.
Our home security system FAQ explains how the whole system fits together.
Verisure signage tells a would-be burglar that the home is professionally monitored, which can be enough to stop them from targeting your home. If someone does get in, GuardVision gives our operators images to verify what’s happening so they can act on your behalf.
No. Verisure is a monitored service, so the equipment comes with a monthly plan that covers 24/7 monitoring. The system connects over Wi-Fi or 4G, so that you won’t need a landline for your alarm either.
